Have you already heard of Bar Hop? If you were local to Toronto, you certainly would have. It’s like Mecca for beer lovers, with almost 40 different craft beers with one thing in common: they’re all top class. Now, thanks to Rover and Estimote, the place is also a great example of how restaurants and small businesses can use iBeacon technology to engage visitors and blend physical with digital.
Bar Hop has a wide selection of best craft beers that are its standard inventory, but there’s also a custom of rotating some additions to their usual set. The users of Bar Hop’s app are now greeted upon entry with information about this night’s offering. The app also pushes additional information about special offers for food and drinks - each offer can be marked as ‘favorite’ or ‘not relevant’. And that’s the coolest thing about the whole solution: it learns about your taste with time. So the more often you come visit Bar Hop, the better suited the offers will become. And if that wasn’t cool enough, the most loyal clients can earn special rewards: even better deals!
The software is based on Rover’s iBeacon platform. Rover, which is a 500 Startups alumni, has installed Estimote Beacons around the place and integrated them into their system. It allows Bar Hop managers to easily monitor the usage of the app and push content to its users.
The iBeacon enabled app allows us to see who our frequent customers are and reward them for their loyalty, says Bar Hop’s manager. The Rover content management system makes it easy for us to tell our customers what craft beers we are featuring that day when they walk in to Bar Hop.
Download the app on iTunes right now and check out one of the best bars Toronto has to offer. And if you don’t believe us, you can also check the glowing reviews on Yelp!
