As your fleet of beacons grows, it might get problematic to quickly find the right ones. What if you quickly need to find all your beacons placed in the beverages department of your store in San Francisco? Or, better, you just spotted a beetroot beacon in the office and need to quickly find all the beetroots on your account to find the right one.
The most straightforward thing to do would be to name the beacons accordingly. But it won't help much even with the cases described above. That's why Estimote Cloud allows you to filter beacons in various ways.
Filtering by beacons' settings
Beacons can be filtered by the following criteria:
- identifier (e.g. only the ones starting with "42d4e")
- firmware version (e.g. "4.12.0")
- hardware revision (e.g. only the G1.8 beacons)
- color (e.g. mint)
- and of course names
Filtering by tags
You can tag your beacons in Estimote Cloud to make it easier to manage them. It’s especially useful when you have a lot of beacons in various location and need to be able to quickly find the right ones. For example, you can use tags to check which floor particular beacons are on, or which of your clients is using them.
In order to tag beacons:
- log in to Estimote Cloud
- check beacon you want to tag
- click Edit button
- add new tags or select the existing ones and save the changes (you can select multiple tags)
Filtering by an attachment key
If you use the latest Proximity SDK, you can add attachments to a beacon. Once the attachments are added, you can search for their 'key' the same way you were searching for any other criteria.
