Kochi-Muziris Biennale is the first biennale in India. It’s a festival spanning months of events, with immeasurable attractions to enjoy. This year the Kochi Biennale Foundation partnered with Sinergia Labs to deliver an app to make it easier for visitors to discover everything Biennale has to offer. And there was a lot!
Every two years tens of contemporary artists from around the world flock to Kochi and the surrounding islands to showcase their work. Exhibitions last for three months, accompanied by movie screenings, concerts and seminars. All of that creates a blend of local culture with the influence of themes and trends of international art. It used to be easy to get lost in all that, but the most recent edition of Kochi-Muziris Biennale introduced a change: mobile app based on Estimote Beacons to deliver local context to the users at just the right time and place.
The app is based on Sinergia Labs’ SpotON platfotm. SpotON allows for easy content management, as well as analytics and incorporating sharing mechanisms for social media. Sinergia Labs used it to deliver directions, videos, and additional information about events and artworks to the users.
Sinergia Labs is already talking with clients and partners to bring beacons and the SpotON platform to more events.
